Every October, we challenge those who have the option to drive to learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face.
More than 1/3 of people living in the United States are nondrivers. We are people with disabilities, young people, seniors and people who can’t afford cars or gas.
This year, in addition to challenging our neighbors to use transit, bike, walk, or roll to work and school; we are imagining a Philly with affordable and accessible transit. A Philly with a Transit Access Fund, universal student fares, and accessible transit stops that include all of us.
Events took place all across PA. In Philly, we kicked off the week with a multimodal alleycat.

During the Week Without Driving (Oct 1st-8th), we took action to support our campaigns for more affordable and accessible public transit. We spoke out at city hall for affordable transit at Councilmember Nicolas O'Rourke's affordability hearing.

We tabled at the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership Fall Festival in support of the Transit Access Fund.

We conducted accessibility audits at transit stops with the 215 People's Alliance and Fairmount Civic Association.

Later we joined Councilmember Rue Landau for a hearing on universal student fares.

We look forward to reflecting on the Week Without Driving and continuing our advocacy for the safe, reliable, affordable, and accessible transit that Philly deserves.
