What's Happening?
In the next Philadelphia city budget, the nationally renowned Zero Fare program that provides 60,000 low income Philadelphians with transportation benefits may be cut. Additionally, 13,000 city workers may lose their municipal Key Advantage benefits.
The success of the Zero Fare program shows that our most vulnerable neighbors use it to access jobs, healthcare and other opportunities. Defunding the program also cuts millions of dollars from SEPTA which still lacks long term, sustainable state funding.
The Solution
With your voice and your support, we can organize to stop cuts to transit programs that keep Philly moving.
Mayor Parker and the Philadelphia City Council must include both these vital programs in the City Budget. Over the longer term, Councilmember O’Rourke’s Transit Access Fund legislation would permanently fund the Zero Fare program, protect transit benefits for city workers, and make transit more affordable for all Philadelphians through investment in Key Advantage programs.
