Rally and Press Conference: Keep Transit Safe and In Service

Philadelphians deserve to get to work, school, and travel across the region without their trains catching on fire.

Join community leaders and transit riders on Tuesday, October 14th, to demand that SEPTA and transit agencies across PA get the funding they need to make urgent safety upgrades.

This week, SEPTA regional rail riders have encountered hundreds of delayed and canceled trains due to decades of a lack of investment in transit. In early October, the National Transportation Safety Board issued a warning to SEPTA urging them to take action to update their fleet of rail cars. Five Regional Rail fires took place over the summer due to our aging infrastructure.

Last month, Governor Shapiro directed SEPTA to flex their own capital dollars to keep service running. A bill passed by the PA Senate similarly depleted critical funds to make SEPTA safer. These are not solutions. With a state budget more than 100 days late, our legislators must take urgent action now.

Join Transit Forward Philadelphia and Transit for all PA in calling for new, dedicated funding for SEPTA and transit agencies across PA.
