SEPTA has shared that new state transit funding must be secured by August 14th in order to avoid a 20% service cut across the system later this month. This includes cutting 32 bus lines, shortening 16 routes, and reducing service for 63 more. SEPTA metro and regional rail line service would also become less frequent. Fares would also increase by 21.5% on September 1st.
It's not too late to prevent these cuts. Senator Joe Picozzi is a key vote on transit funding to save SEPTA and transit agencies all across the commonwealth from collapse. Join us to talk with transit riders and encourage them to use their voice and contact their elected officials.
We will canvass SEPTA riders from 4pm to 6pm at Torresdale and Cottman Avenue Bus Loop Station. Volunteers will also be meeting during the same times at Frankford Transit Center talking with riders on cancelled buses in the NE. All materials will be provided and all are welcome to join.
